CBABC Awards Women

Written on Friday, June 26th, 2015

The CBABC hosts a variety of annual and biannual awards which are given throughout the calendar year. Most recently the association awarded three women for their excellence in both practice and community involvement.

The Honourable Judge Patricia L. Janzen was decorated with the Women Lawyers Forum Award of Excellence. The award "celebrates the accomplishments of a woman who has succeeded in breaking new ground for women in the legal profession in British Columbia." The award pays tribute to risk taking, change seeking women in law who break new ground for future female lawyers.

The discretionary Mentoring Award was given to Debra Van Ginkel, QC this year. The award celebrates mentors and role models in the legal profession. In 2015, the award paid homage to Debra as a "committed, inspirational and wise mentor."

Most recently, Access Pro Bono Director, Claire Hunter, was presented the Harry Rankin, QC Pro Bono Award. The award recognizes "outstanding contributions by a member of CBABC in the area of pro bono work."

Congratulations to these three, accomplished women!
