BC's provincial government released its 2013 budget yesterday, to the dismay of the CBA BC Branch, which "expressed disappointment that the government has ignored clear messages from those within and outside of the justice system that there is a critical need for increased financial support for legal aid and the justice system as a whole." See the press release Budget Provides No New Funding For Access to Justice for more details.
On a similar note, BCGEU president Darryl Walker noted, "Our justice system and Community Living BC are both in crisis. Neither are getting the meaningful budget increases they desperately need."
Also available as part of the budget are service plans for the various crown agencies, including the Legal Services Society, and ministry service plans, including the Ministry of Justice.
