This conference brings together an esteemed panel from the fields of employment law, mental health, the Employers' Advisers Office and WorkSafeBC . Key topics from the agenda include:
- Mental health issues and the effects on the Canadian workplace;
- Psychologically unhealthy work environments, including those where bullying and harassment occur;
- The recent extension of compensation for mental disorder claims under BC's workers compensation legislation; and
- Recent WorkSafeBC bullying and harassment policies that took effect in November 2013.
Dye & Durham's own in-house counsel and Manager of Litigation Support Services, Laurelly Dale, is on the faculty of the conference. Ms. Dale is speaking on "New OHS Bullying and Harassment Policies Part II: Minimizing and Mitigating Risk." Ms. Dale has over eleven years experience in the legal industry, five as a legal administrative assistant and over six as a practicing lawyer. She was a trial lawyer for over three years in Ontario and BC before moving in-house at Dye & Durham. Currently, Ms. Dale handles all of the company’s litigation, employment matters, contract drafting and management, and negotiations, as well as overseeing the entire litigation department. Ms. Dale is a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. Ms. Dale is co-chair of the CBABC’s Law Week Committee, a member of the CBABC’s Court Service Committee, and a member of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association’s (CCCA) Professional Development Committee.
