Vistas Winter 2015

The University of Victoria Law recently released their Winter 2015 issue of Vistas, their alumni magazine.

The magazine launched in the spring of 2012 and since then has been published biannually. This issue features Aboriginal Culture Awareness Camp's ("AbCamp") 20th year anniversary, along with a variety of informative articles. AbCamp is a four day experience, which was held September 24 to 27 in "three different Indigenous communities around Victoria and was packed with traditional Tsawout, Tsartlip and Esqui - malt activities and ceremonies." The camp's inaugural year was back in 1995 with 24 student attendees along with RCMP and support staff in search of understanding culture and healing.

The eighth issue also includes an interview with New Supreme Justice Russell Brown and a piece on transition balancing with Madam Justice Lauri Ann Fenlon. Furthermore, Visats Winter 2015 announces the winners of UVic Law's Law Foundation of British Columbia Public Interest Awards. The new collection of awards given six deservign students $5,000 each "who have demonstrated a commitment to public interest, combined with academic achievement."
